Teddy Towncrier's Web Oasis.

Not commenting on posts is leaving the gravy behind.

The blogger whose post you have just read has invested a significant amount of time to create the post and promote it across the world and you can grab his coat tails and go for a ride.

Adding your comment to a blog provides a great opportunity to extend your reach and possibly influence tens of thousands who you didn’t know existed.

A plain vanilla “Great post” won’t quite do the job but instead;    Try to expand on how the post has impacted you or how you have had similar experiences and you’ll soon find your own counter is growing.

Don’t expect to crash your server from a sudden rush of traffic but a well thought out comment can be a great thumbnail of who you are and you’ll discover folks will want to know more about you.

Don’t be surprised to discover that the blogger to whom you’ve just commented has been poking around your pages and found something to tell the world about and is now talking about you to his thousands of followers.    and that’s real leverage.

Take the time to add a thoughtful comment or at least a StumbleUpon Thumbs Up and don’t be surprised to discover that you’ve suddenly become famous, too.

Make a point of commenting on at least one blog every day.    You aren’t going to miss out on all this?   Are you?

  3. but the true value, my friend Teddy, that is developed, nurtured and exercised when one reads and responds is an ever increasing network – not only of those people who will read and be touched by what you said in response to one person’s post or even in response to a millions persons’ posts or to the every increasing additive network members that grow with the increasing connections of individuals on person to the next – but the vast network of ideas within yourself that is continuously growing within your mind – your body and your soul – connecting one idea to another and another and each on to all others as in as many combinations as can ever or could be imagined – to form such new ideas as in such grand numbers as will ever be derived from these vast internal networks forged, engulfed and laid forth within.

  4. Teddy,
I’ve really gotten into reading blogs since I started my blog. I must admit, that I have failed to make comments and definitely needed this reminder. Thanks!
